How does your donation help?

The goal of this charity campaign is to raise funds for the renovation of the Jewish cemetery in Pärnu. The cemetery has a long history, with one of the oldest burials dating back to the 19th century.

Unfortunately, the cemetery has fallen into disrepair. The first stage of renovation will cost 5,000 euros.

We invite everyone to support this important initiative! The Pärnu Jewish cemetery was opened in the late 1850s in the northwestern part of the Alevi Municipal Cemetery, next to the Muslim cemetery. The first burials were cantonist soldiers who served in Pärnu. Notable graves include the resting place of Pärnu Rabbi Zalman Permand and a small tomb mausoleum. During World War I, a military hospital was located in Pärnu, and Jewish soldiers of the Russian Empire who died from wounds were buried in the Jewish cemetery. In November 2009, a cenotaph was unveiled with the names of 34 Jewish children from Pärnu, who were poisoned on November 2, 1941, in the Pärnu synagogue.
